By now you know everywhere you turn online there is a solution knocking at your door. The time it cost to research online keeps growing by the minute if not seconds. You are more likely to stick with the few option you find just to save time. When you request for a quote you end up with information that makes it even harder to understand the value of the quote.
There are a lot of differences with website design companies. In most cases, it is almost impossible the first time around to find a clear choice. Designers work in multiple ways, offer different experiences, solutions, and budget. In most cases present themselves to be capable of doing anything you through their way. Blow are my recommendation…
This group of design companies have grown in popularity due to how cheap and fast you can set up a website using their software (Price rage $4 to $26 per month). Application does not require any programming skills to build your website. It provides you with all the basic tool to setup an online business with out any professional website designer involvement. The business module is built to scale to the masses and attempts to offer a general solutions to each industry it serves. The most popular ones are Wix, Weebly, & Square Space. Web hosting companies now also offer SaaS website solutions. Some disadvantages is your limitation to the features of the platform, leaving you very little room for customization. There is the likelihood of having your brand look similar to other business. In most cases, you have to host your web-mail with a different provider, or pay extra to have email.
“Recommend for those who have time to explore, and can afford the time to learn new things as it changes. And are not looking for customization at this point. Cost evaluation should be based on how much value your time is worth”
Fancy name for a one man shop service provider, likely to work from home and don’t earn a salary. They depend on the influx of work to make a living. Typically charge hourly or per project and can be flexible on their pricing to win your project (Rate per hour ranges from $15 to $150). In some cases, they work a full time or part time job somewhere else.
There is some excellent freelancer that can offer you premium solutions, for precaution call up their testimonials, check out their work sample if you like their work. You also should be willing to go through the process of hiring a website design company if things don’t go well. Most top established design companies started as a Freelancer. The ones that do well gradual progress to the next type of design company.
“Recommended for people who have a personal relationship with the freelancer and have a small budget. Risk factor is higher, but is well worth it if recommended by someone you know.”
There is a wide variation in this group, and can range from teams of 2 to 100 under this category (Rate per hour ranges from $35 to $250). At this stage, you should expect, experienced, specialized and reliable support & services. Low-risk investment and higher expectation on your ROI. Good In-house website design companies have solid vertical integration of services like web hosting, graphic design, online marketing and custom programmers on-site. There is a physical office location to visit, and you get to work with one person for the life of your partnership. Turn around are faster. They usually grow by employing more people or partnering with strategic vendors to help with the workload.
“Recommended for business in a competitive market looking to maintain a good online reputation and increase market share, but don’t have in-house digital expert(s). Provide excellent support and are on top of industry trends.”
Most design companies in this group use account manager to work with you until your project is complete. They rely heavily on multiple freelancers to accomplish each project, (Rate per hour ranges from $60 to $150). One may wonder why would you choose an outsource website design company. They pride themselves of bringing together the best freelancers to work under one umbrella, saving you the headache of dealing with bad freelancers. They usually do not own intellectual rights and power to the solution they offer. Support takes longer and a lot of communication errors. This group is in a decline due to low sustainability factor.
“Recommended for those who prefer to use freelancers but would want to reduce the risk of hiring a bad freelancer.”
Adverting agencies will offer you a different experience when it comes to designing your project compared to a freelancer. You will have an entire team made up of various creative skill sets. They typically get hired to take over the whole digital spectrum of business. From branding, to print materials, and both inbound and out bound marketing. They usually work with a structured corporate business, with multiple locations. In simple terms, businesses with deeper monthly or annual budget work with Agencies. (Budget start around 5k per month)
“Recommended for a larger business that have skilled staff to understand numbers and ROI.”
The ultimate goal of all these individual design companies is to help their clients grow their business.
